An investigation of the disaster has revealed, that it has probably been a gas and coal dust explosion.Unfortunately more than 1,000 miners
lost their lives at this disaster. It took workers ten days to remove all the corpses and rubble from the shaft. The dead were buried in a
mass grave nearby. Many victims could not be properly identified due to the extent of the burns.

Premierminister Chiang Kai-Chek thanks the French ambassador for his compassion. As a "positive" result of the accident a permanent commission was established
which will review the safety precautions in Chinese mines.

The Quindao Beihai Shipbuilding at Taipei was flooded with dignitaries yesterday as the keel of China’s newest heavy cruiser of the Prince Class, named HICMS Daoguang in honor of one of the ancestor of his majesty Pu Yi. Some thousands workmen are employed in the dockyard in the various aspects of her construction, which is expected to continue over the next years at least. While the sister vessel was a backbone of the chinese navy in the sino-filipino war, exults in the latest example of her citizens’ expertise in shipbuilding and the nation can rest assured that this cruiser will be built with the thoroughness that is typical of the dockyards of this city.


general naval news:
The last 5 Maoke-Class DD's of the second batch began their trials after completation in different naval shipyards.

The HICMS Línchóng-1 finished her trials in the south chinese sea and was put into service of the CMSCG.

The first two, of the four light cruisers of the ex-Thrasius class, reach, after an uneventful crossing, the port of Shanghai.
These two vessels will undergo a major conversion to amphibious support ships. Whether this conversion is carried out with the
other two ships is not yet known.

The next six frigates of the class Mengquin undergo a refit, to continue their valuable service in the Chinese navy.

The demolition work on the islands of the former co-dominion are in full swing. After the coastal fortifications were blown up, currently chinese pioneers
are busy to clear, the remaining mines which are laid out. The aircrafts of the CCAF (Air Force Condominium Chinese) are already moved back to the mainland
of China and Formosa. Similarly, the ships of the Condominum Force are already returned to chinese waters.

After the signing of the Treaty of Saigon where was decided to resume diplomatic ties between the two nations, the Chinese Embassy in Manila has been open again today.


23th June
The seaplane carrier HICMS Shanton finished his completation at the Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding at Kaoshiung. The test trials will be carry out in the South China Sea.
